The book is written for intermediate learners in programming. I would not recommend the book for beginners. The assignments are hard to comprehend and the integration between the exercises and the samples are so extensively different. Use this book only if required.

It’s actually a well written book. It’s easy to use, very easy to read and quite easy to understand. I dont even bother listening in class anymore because all I need is this book.

The book that I bought was the cheepest one I could find. However, quality was still very good and the condition of the book was as good if not better than what the seller had described.

I am rather disappointed in this textbook.
The text does seem to cover basic logic and forms well. However, it doesn’t cover objects until the last chapter, and doesn’t cover them near as much as it ought to. Furthermore, it takes a strictly GUI approach; the book doesn’t cover console applications at all. Finally, despite having Visual Basic 2008 in the title, it doesn’t cover LINQ or WPF; major additions to Visual Basic in 2008!
On the whole, I feel there are much stronger introductory textbooks available for VB, and would not recommend this one.
